Swiss Steak is recipe I grew up eating and is a favorite. Just like the Chicken Tetrazzini recipe I shared a few weeks ago, this recipe is from my mom and grandma. Both my mom and I make this Swiss Steak without a recipe. But my mom did dig through my grandmas old recipe and found it. I am changing a few things but for the most part it is the same recipe. This is a great dinner to put in the crock-pot and let cook on a cold day.
Swiss Steak recipe tips:
- If you are in a hurry or don’t like chopping onion and celery, use canned diced tomatoes that already have onions and celery in it. Here is what I like to use.
- If your sauce turns out too runny after cooking in the crockpot, mix in a little flour to thicken it.
- Serve with mashed potatoes and use the extra tomato sauce as a gravy!
I hope you enjoy this recipe as much as my family does!
